I love when experiences come together to create lasting impressions! Isn’t that what traveling should be about? Leaving your city for client meetings, to catch up with friends & family, to experience something outside of your norm. Your travels should provide a restful night sleep in a relaxing room that you can call your home away from home, even if for just one night.
Last week, my husband and I were delighted to spend the evening cruising the Hudson on behalf of IHG Rewards and their Share Forever promotion. To make the experience last, we planned our own staycation not too far from home, at the Hotel Indigo in the Lower East Side of NYC. I am excited to partner with IHG and share our little adventure with you.
This cruise was their way to say “thank you” to the Elite members of their reward program. Beyond the room upgrades, free internet, priority check-in and late checkout perks, to show their appreciation IHG went one step further. They hosted several reward events around the country for their extra loyal guests.
Our night began with cocktails and mingling while tasting some delectable passed hor d’oeuvres, we then set sail around the New York Harbor. Views of the spectacular sunset over the Statue of Liberty was the backdrop for our delicious 3 course dinner. The Atlantica Yacht then sailed up the East River to give us a photo-perfect view of the Brooklyn Bridge.
Share Forever
When cruise came to a close, we made our way back to the new and chic Hotel Indigo LES NYC. As an IHG reward member, it was the perfect opportunity to take advantage of the Share Forever program. We earned bonus points to create even more memories. Until September 5th, register to earn at least 65,000 bonus rewards points (enough for a free night at any IHG hotel around the globe). Additionally at 15 nights you can even share a free night with someone else, #shareforever, promotions like this make traveling so worthwhile.
Like I said, I love when experiences leave lasting impressions. As one of the coolest properties in NYC the Indigo easily does that. With the lobby on the 14th floor, enjoy an aerial view of LES while checking your emails or relaxing in the café. One floor up is a stylish and artsy inspired bar & lounge with an outdoor pool, that honestly looks like a page out of Architectural Digest. At night this space turns into one of the hottest roof top bars in the neighborhood and of course hotel guests have full access.
New York is known for its tiny living spaces, but the Hotel Indigo’s rooms felt open and airy. Large picture windows, a comfy seating area and a mosaic tile bathroom with dual shower heads had me wishing we had booked another night.
It’s nice to take a break from the hustle and bustle to relax. Our staycation was definitely an evening well spent. In my 11 years in the NYC, it was something I had never done before. When you live in a big city, you forget how to be a tourist in your own town. Our staycation showed me that sometimes you don’t have to travel very far to feel like you’re on vacation.
