Financial District Skyline
The Ultimate Guide of Things to Do in the Financial District NYC

The Financial District NYC| Sherita Rankins NYSE

The general rule is, after 10 years in the city, you are officially considered a New Yorker. Personally, I considered myself one way before that time frame (and still do even though I no longer live there). I know it may sound silly, but when I moved to the Financial District of NYC, the city and I had an instant bond. There is so much to love about New York, not counting the rats, the smells, and the cost. But honestly, everything else is fantastic!

I spent nine of my 11 years in the city that never sleeps living in the Financial District, or Fidi, as it's called these days. I was a resident of this neighborhood when not many wanted to be. Fast forward nine years, it's now one of NYC's most desirable areas. If you are planning a trip to the Big Apple, you have to spend at least a day in my old stomping grounds. Here are my recommendations for things you don't want to miss in the Financial District NYC.

Spotting a celebrity - Kendal Jenner
How To Easily Spot a Celebrity When in Los Angeles

So your publicist failed to get you an invite to the latest Hollywood red carpet event. No worries. Likely, the only thing you've missed is an opportunity to blow thousands of dollars on a dress you will never wear again. It's time for new representation anyway - LOL. The good news is your chances to spot a celebrity are anything but dead.

There are many ways for the stars to align while in Tinsel Town, and you do not have to bribe your way into a reservation at the newest hot spot. You can, in fact, see some of the best attractions Los Angeles has to offer for free and increase your chances to take home a close encounter story of the celebrity varietal.

My Guide to Singapore Travel Guide – 48 Hours in the City

Sherita Walking the streets of singaporeTraveling to Asia has always been on my bucket list, so when I started planning my South East Asia adventure, Singapore was definitely on the list. As the financial hub of Asia, I thought the city would be a great destination to start off my travels and an easy transition from NYC. Though both cities have a lot of similarities, there are some unexpected perks and disadvantages to Singapore. Here's how I spent 48 hours in the Lion City (video below) and a few tips for planning your Singapore trip.

Singapore is a very cosmopolitan city. I was pleasantly surprised at all it had to offer - great food, shopping galore, friendly people, very clean and open spaces to walk around. The more we explored, the more I fell in love with this island.

Fashionable and Practical Must Have Travel Necessities When Flying

view from flying

Any frequent flyer knows that you cannot simply pack a carry-on bag without thinking about all of the things you will want or need on a flight. This task gets increasingly difficult depending on the length of the flight itself. There is an art form to figuring out how to fit all of your travel necessities into a carry on to wheel along with you.

When you have an eye for style, it makes it even harder to decide which accessories stay and which (begrudgingly) have to go. To make that task a little easier, here are seven travel accessories that bridge the gap between fashion and practicality. In other words, throw them in the bag, sit back, relax and enjoy your flight.

How to Travel like a Baller When You’re On a Budget
IMG_20160807_184805 Almost every year this New Yorker likes to get out of gritty NYC and do some California dreaming. I wouldn't consider myself a jet-setter, but I take around 4-5 trips each year with a big vacation in the mix. I'll be honest, I like to travel in style. From my flights, dining out, and most importantly the hotel, nothing sub-par will do. This LA trip was no exception and I enjoyed every minute of it. I've always looked forward to planning trips. I love finding delicious restaurants to try, shopping like a local and of course booking excellent accommodations. I don't have a fortune to spend when traveling. Luckily, there are some tips and tricks you can use to save money without skipping out on the luxury.

I have definitely taken this to heart. To escape the Florida heat, she packed a bag or three and joined me on my California trip. We decided to spend a few relaxing days at the InterContinental Century City, conveniently located blocks away from Beverly Hills.

My NYC Staycation – How to Share Forever this Summer with IHG Rewards
IHG Cruise I love when experiences come together to create lasting impressions! Isn't that what traveling should be about? Leaving your city for client meetings, to catch up with friends & family, to experience something outside of your norm. Your travels should provide a restful night sleep in a relaxing room that you can call your home away from home, even if for just one night. Dining Room Atlantica Cruise Last week, my husband and I were delighted to spend the evening cruising the Hudson on behalf of IHG Rewards and their Share Forever promotion. To make the experience last, we planned our own staycation not too far from home, at the Hotel Indigo in the Lower East Side of NYC. I am excited to partner with IHG and share our little adventure with you. This cruise was their way to say "thank you" to the Elite members of their reward program. Beyond the room upgrades, free internet, priority check-in and late checkout perks, to show their appreciation IHG went one step further. They hosted several reward events around the country for their extra loyal guests. Our night began with cocktails and mingling while tasting some delectable passed hor d'oeuvres, we then set sail around the New York Harbor. Views of the spectacular sunset over the Statue of Liberty was the backdrop for our delicious 3 course dinner. The Atlantica Yacht then sailed up the East River to give us a photo-perfect view of the Brooklyn Bridge. Lower Manhattan From IHG Cruise
