6 Financial Steps to Take in Your 30’s

June is my birthday month, and I try to celebrate it all month long. Birthdays always make me reflect on the past year, but they also encourage me to think about the year ahead. Like many people, I try to set goals for myself professionally, make resolutions for personal growth, and pin locations on the map that I want to travel to. During the month, I also try to look at my financial status. Because my birthday falls mid-year, it is the optimal time to access my progress thus far. I feel that when you get past your 20’s, each year brings you closer to those milestones in life, like buying that dream home, making career strides and ultimately – retirement. Your 30’s are a time when you can make some serious financial progress to set yourself up for a prosperous future. Here are my financial steps to take in your 30's.

Rose Cobbler

Vintry NYC & the Rosé Cobbler

Rose Cobbler It's June, my favorite month of the year! The weather is perfect, fresh produce has never looked better, and it's my Birthday month. There are a lot of ways to enjoy this glorious month, and I like to unwind at Vintry, my favorite New York City cocktail barFor the month of June, Vintry is featuring a summertime favorite - Rosé. They have designed a delicious cocktail, the Rosé Cobbler (recipe below) and have paired it with a couple of dishes from their tasty small plates menu. Vintry - located on Stone St. in the heart of the Financial District, will be donating $1 from each Rosé Cobbler to my favorite charity, the Alzheimer's Association

Black and White Reversal – Jia Collection

Jia Collection Erika Reversible Dress Finding clothing that is versatile, comfortable, and stylish is rare, that is why this fashion post has me so excited! Jia Li, founder of Jia Collection, has designed an unique line of reversible pieces that can be worn both front to back AND inside out, to show 4 different looks with just one piece. I traveled to Florida with this Erika dress and found it had the added benefit of being wrinkle free too. Jia Collection is the perfect solution for the busy mom, traveler or any woman looking to easily create different outfits without buying several pieces. I styled this look with my Via Spiga sandals and my favorite vintage clutch.

Grilled Horseradish Potato Salad

I have never been a fan of traditional potato salad with heavy mayo and lackluster flavor. That is why I love this recipe from Stop and Shop. In their Healthy Ideas video, I am mixing things up by adding a new twist with this Grilled Potato Salad. It combines tangy vinaigrette with grilled potatoes. You can grill your potatoes on your indoor grill or outside with the rest of the BBQ. This recipe is great for the summer, but it can be enjoyed all year long.

Abstract Anorak

Catherine Malandrino Anorak Jacket with a Badgley Mischka Handbag The weather this season has been so temperamental, one day it's hot and then the next it feels like fall again. That is why I love this Catherine Malandrino Anorak Jacket (similar to a parka, an anorak is a jacket with a hood). With this chic layering piece, I am prepared for any weather that spring throws at me while still looking very much in season. This bold pattern only needs simple neutrals and coordinating colors to set it off. My white jeans go perfectly with my matching beige wedges and handbag. The rings from Greenwich Jewelers pick up the blue and white from my jacket and really pop on my hand.

Brushstroked Blue

Brushstroked BlueI have really been loving the prints this spring. Since I don't usually go for the traditional floral motiffs, this abstract brushstroke blue inspired Vince Camuto skirt is perfect for me. I paired this with a simple black Elie Tahari blazer from one of my suits to create a look that works for the office or a ladies luncheon (yes I said luncheon). My Oryany handbag, from Neiman Marcus adds a fun pop of purple to compliment the blue. My crystal locket from Greenwich Jewelers makes the look more contemporary and the Jamie Joseph clear statement ring ties everything together.

Mini Taco Salads with Crispy Shells

Taco SaladIn honor of Cinco de Mayo my neighbor hosted an amazing party and asked me to assist her with the planning by bringing some of my delicious homemade Mexican dishes. I don't know the history behind Cinco de Mayo, but I do know it's a great excuse to eat some tasty Mexican food and Salud with Margaritas! The party featured my signature Guacamole Recipe, a tasty taco bar with a selection of chipotle chicken, grilled shrimp, ground turkey, chorizo and all the toppings you could ever need. I also made my Jalepeno Deviled Eggs, garnished with spicy chorizo. The highlight of the table were my Miniature Taco Salads, topped with some guacamole, crema and a slice of radish.

Spring Kaleidoscope

1 State Paint Brush Blazer with Joie Coated DenimSpring is here in full force, so why not have a bit of fun with some colors that are not typical for spring. When I realized that these Joie Coated Denim pants were actually olive and not black, I knew I had to have them! My paintbrush print inspired blazer reminded me of what feels like looking thru a kaleidoscope. The blues, oranges, yellows, and greens work together to create this beautiful print. I am wearing white and blue geometric shaped jewelry from Greenwich Jewelers. With so much color, I kept my bag and shoes neutral.

Why Knowing Your Worth At Work Is Critical

Guest Post by Certifed Career Coach - Jill Ozovek
All too often, we end up putting one foot in front of the other, trudging to our places of work each day, and suddenly it’s time for the ol’ annual review again. Where did the time go? If you’re like many people, you haven’t thought too much about your goals and development since your last review period, especially if you’re full speed ahead day in and day out at your job, and many companies do not have programs in place to foster this awareness of your career and development. So why is knowing your worth at work critical to your career?
