Leather Vixen

Leather is back with a vengeance this year! To me, this too-cool-for-school fabric never went out of style. I bought my first pair of genuine leather pants during my senior year of high school. (I know—I was ahead of my time.) I think I spent $500 on those pants, and I still have them! I can’t confidently tell you they fit, but that’s beside the point.

Trends come and go, but leather is a long-term investment that is worth the splurge. This sleek material comes in various shapes, colors, and styles. Classic leather pants aren’t the only look in style this season—pretty much anything leather is fair game. Wear as much as you want, but be careful not to overdo it. You don’t want to look like a stand-in for Catwoman!

I posted this chic look on my Instagram feed not too long ago, and I received a ton of questions about this gorgeous vegan leather top. Although generally, yes, it’s a smart idea to invest in real, quality leather goods (e.g., handbags, jackets, boots, purses, etc.), when you’re considering a trendy piece, such as an off-the-shoulder leather top, you may want to opt for a less expensive option like vegan leather (a fancy term for faux leather).

This look is from one of my favorite shoe stores in NYC, The Shoe Box, which consistently offers a fantastic selection of contemporary and designer shoes. We styled this leather-on-sparkle outfit, and it just embodies downtown New York. If a leather shirt isn’t your thing, you could easily pair the sparkly pencil skirt with a classic white shirt or silk camisole. The leather clutch is none other than Rebecca Minkoff, and though it’s trendy, a bag like this won’t go out of style. To finish off the look, we found a super chic pair of black leather booties to strut around in. This outfit is head to toe leather perfection and definitely screams vixen!

  1. I’m growing fond of this hue for autumn/winter, and if we think about it, it’s a fantastic color for this season, because white reminds us of the cold, and in all fantasy films, the person who lives in the castle, where it’s always winter, is always clothed in all white. I’m a jewelry lover and I’ll definitely try this look with my Gold Septum Ring in the first place. Thanks for the post.
